A new service, consisting of 'business surgeries' on selected Wednesdays, is to be launched at a pair of Business Information Events in Machynlleth. The service will make it easier for people to find help in developing their business ideas. Ecodyfi, the community regeneration grwpoup for the Dyfi valley, has organised the initiative because it wants to help businesses grow from the local community. Job creationJob creation is even more important now, following the recent closure of the Kenneth Fogg factory with the loss of over 40 jobs. Some of the former workers may be considering setting up their own businesses but will need support and advice to do so. To launch this service, ecodyfi is holding two Business Information Events at Ty Bro Ddyfi (52 Maengwyn Street). As well as the Business Eye worker, there will be representatives or information from Menter a Busnes, The Prince's Trust, Ceredigion and Meirionnydd Business Centres and the Dyfi Valley Tourism Growth Area. The first Business Information Event will be from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday March 10th and the second from 6.30 until 8.30 on Thursday March 11th. Business EyeBusiness Eye provides free and comprehensive information about support which will help existing or start-up businesses. It has local centres in Welshpool, Dolgellau and Aberystwyth and can be contacted on Tel 08457 96 97 98. However, busy people in the Dyfi valley will now also be able to call into 52 Maengwyn Street during these Information Events and surgeries to meet a Business Eye representative for an informal chat. Menter a BusnesMenter a Busnes deliver pre-business start up support through programmes such as Potentia Menter a Busnes which is specifically for Welsh speakers, and the Enterprise Factory for those under 40 wishing to test out a business idea. The Prince's Trust specialises in helping enterprising young people. The Business Centres provide information on business start-up support that is available in their county, along with Local Authority grants and ICT support. There will also be information about support for selling through the internet. WDA Business AdviserHoward Kimberley will also be present on these two days. He is a WDA Business Adviser and will be available for free consultations. He specialises in the social economy - cooperatives or enterprises set up for reasons other than private profit. These events will therefore be useful for voluntary groups as well as private businesses. Following the events, a 'Business Eye' information worker will hold surgeries.
