The Board | Members | The Staff (1) The BoardThe Board members (most of whom are the Directors of ecodyfi) attend quarterly meetings and make the main decisions about ecodyfi's direction. Most of them live in the valley. [Link to latest list of board members: Excel document, 60kB] Up until the 2002 AGM in April, the constitution ensured that local representation outweighed that from regional bodies. From now on, regional bodies will only be present if co-opted and directors will be elected so that they represent proportionally the three counties, with up to four from each of Powys, Gwynedd and Ceredigion, plus up to five co-opted directors. From 2001-2002 our board members were:
From May 2002, our elected board members are:
(2) The MembersWe opened a formal membership scheme in September 2001. 43 individuals and 14 organisations have paid to join so far, including 7 Town and Community Councils. Members are kept informed by occasional newsletters, and through direct contact on any issue that they have expressed an interest in. Members with an interest in tourism automatically become members of Twristiaeth Dyfi Tourism, the Dyfi Valley's sustainable tourism association. Would you like to join us too? (3) StaffAndy Rowland, Development Officer: has been involved with ecodyfi since its beginnings in 1997. He directly manages the Community Renewable Energy Project and co-ordinates the other work. Originally trained as an agricultural botanist, he had a brief spell
at Ynyslas National Nature Reserve before organising a Community Action
Project for the (then) Development Board for Rural Wales. He worked for
14 years at the Centre for Alternative Technology, with responsibilities
in retailing, site management, education, marketing and management. Teresa Walters, Sustainable Tourism Officer: has worked for ecodyfi since June 2001. Previously, she has worked with the membership department of the Centre for Alternative Technology, as a teacher at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, from where she was awarded a PhD, and as a freelance copy writer. Her job with ecodyfi has involved setting up Twristiaeth Dyfi Tourism, the Dyfi Valley sustainable tourism association, developing sustainable tourism within the valley and promoting the valley as a green tourism destination. There are other staff and volunteers, which we always welcome. See the Contact us page for more about us! |
