Links from our site - our criteria

We aim to link to:

  • Any site of a local business or organisation

  • Any national or international site providing information we deem to be useful to local residents or visitors to the area, which does not duplicate local information. These may be sites created by a national (including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) or regional agency, charity, trust, campaign body or government department, or other recognized authority, including top level trade associations or unions, and must be related to sustainable development.

General rules for not linking

  • ownership of the site is not obvious - no contact details, feedback availability, etc.

  • sites which have a political bias

  • sites where there is racist, sexist or otherwise defamatory material present

  • sites which actively promote breaking UK legislation or laws.

Ambiguous areas - evaluate on a case by case basis

  • large portals in the private sector that provide independent knowledge for consumers

  • web sites which provide an almost equivalent service to each other, in which case the first up will retain priority

  • single issue campaigning web sites on the border of being irrational or non-objective.

How to request a link

Email the web site editor with:

  • your site's title

  • its web address (url)

  • the category (only one) under which you wish it to be put

  • a description of your site no longer than 20 words in English and Welsh (we don't provide a translation service)

  • your name and contact details.

  • Optionally, you can send a picture for us to include if there's space.

We reserve the right not to link to sites we deem inappropriate.
