The latest version of this unusual waste minimization scheme is taking place in sixteen primary schools in the Llandrindod Wells/ Brecon area of Powys.
The scheme which also helps pupils develop their understanding of both the nature and effects of their carbon footprint will run from the beginning of March until May 2007.
Schools will monitor and weigh their waste during this period and the results will be displayed graphically on this site.
Please read About the project to find out how it works!
The current project is based on two previous schemes. A pilot scheme and the North Powys project which in total involved 20 schools.
Most of these schools successfully reduced their waste. An average reduction of more than 50% was achieved.
Please use the navigation links above to look around. Then, keep visiting the site, during the project, to monitor the schools' progress towards ZERO WASTE.
The current project is funded by Glasu, Powys County Council, Welsh Assembly Government and European Union LEADER+.
