Minutes of MEETING held on 16 September 2004, White Lion Machynlleth.

Present: Nicola, Keith, Diane, Ivor.
Apologies: Peter.

Items discussed (as sent out previously to everyone on the mailing list):

Fairtrade Zone status

  • Hafan café/shop in Tywyn are being consulted as to whether they want to be in the FT Zone - then the application will be ready to go in to the FT Foundation. Nicola will also let Co-op Tywyn know about the application.

  • Publicity needed for when we get Zone status confirmed (about 4 wks). Ideas already suggested are road signs, street event and pancakes, press release.

  • Keith is finding out about Communities First Funday in Oct 16th - agreed it was a good idea to join in whether or not Zone status confirmed.

Finances

  • Currently 818 in the bank.

  • The VERY GOOD NEWS is that the Wales & Borders Region Co-op has awarded us £1500 from their Community Dividend Fund. This will pay for the materials for FT fortnight and other events, mainly leaflets and stickers, and also a contribution to local FT Directory.

  • The cheque will arrive in 3-4 weeks. In the meantime, Keith (treasurer) will agree with Will about repaying his loan. As soon as the cheque arrives,

  • Keith will arrange for all loans from other members to be repaid.

Fair trade coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Relief

  • Coffee morning: Friday 24 September Wynnstay Hotel 10 - 12 am

  • This is part of a national biggest coffee morning in the world - cooperation between Macmillan and Fair Trade.

  • Co-op providing FT tea and coffee, Wynnstay not charging for use of facilities.

  • Macmillan and Wales FT Forum sending information packs.

  • Publicity: Mach diary in Cambrian News; Ecodyfi mailing; B and B mailing Mach area (not Aberdyfi or Borth). Also press release after the event.

  • Note Penegoes is also doing coffee morning on 24th.

  • All FT supporters invited to join in, bake & bring a cake if you can, or come and help serve. Helpers welcomed from 9.30 am. Further information: phone Diane 702282
